Before you begin a search, prepare your termbase search as outlined below.
In the Terms view, select a suitable layout on the lower MultiTerm Online toolbar for the default termbase. The layout affects the display of entries in the entry pane. For more information on the different types of layouts, see Using Layouts.

If you are conducting a multiple termbase search, use the Layouts page in the Termbase Management view to choose a layout for each termbase in the group before you begin searching. For more information, see Setting the Default Layout. |
Specify the source and target languages for the default termbase on the lower MultiTerm Online toolbar, if they are not already specified correctly.
Click the Click to activate filter: <filter name> icon on the Search and Display toolbar, to apply the current default filter to your search. To define the default filter go to the Filter page in the Termbase Management view.
Click the Click to activate duplicate/inconsistency filter: <filter name> icon on the Search and Display toolbar, to apply a duplicate or inconsistency filter to your search.
In the Terms view, click the Search and browse settings icon on the Search and Display toolbar, to display the Settings page where you can define display and multiple termbase search settings.
Under Browse List and Hit List, specify the number of source terms that should be displayed on the Browse and hit list panes.
Under Multiple Termbase Search Options, choose whether you want to search termbases sequentially or hierarchically and whether you want to set termbase languages manually or not. These settings are not relevant if you are conducting a single termbase search.
Under Search Constraints, choose whether you want to limit your search to source terms that have at least one target term. You can also choose to highlight your terms in your search results on the hit list.
Click OK to confirm your settings.
