You can add links to web pages within an entry. A link provides a hyperlink between the text of a descriptive field and a web page. This means that you can click on a hyperlink to launch that web page from MultiTerm.
Hyperlink text is formatted according to the properties specified in the active layout, and is usually distinctive enough for the text to stand out.
You can only create links in descriptive fields where the field content is text-only. In the termbase definition, text-only fields have the field type Text. It is not possible to create a link in descriptive fields where the field content consists of picklist values, numeric data or multimedia files.
Check that you have write access to the fields which requires a link to a web page. For more information, see Logging in to MultiTerm Online. In addition, note the following:
Certain license restrictions may apply in your MultiTerm environment. For example, if the maximum number of concurrent editors on the network has already been reached, you may be temporarily prevented from carrying out any editing tasks. If necessary, contact your MultiTerm administrator to inform him of your requirements.
If another user is editing the entry you want to edit, you will not be able to open the entry in edit mode.
Go to the Terms view. Perform a search to find the entry that requires a link to a web page. Click the relevant term in the hit list on the left-hand side to open the corresponding entry in the entry pane.
Select a layout from the lower MultiTerm Online toolbar that includes distinctive formatting for links. This will make your clearly visible in the entry pane. For more information about the properties of the layouts that are available to you in a given termbase, contact your MultiTerm administrator.
Click Edit entry on the lower MultiTerm Online toolbar.
Identify the exact text for which you want to create a link to a web page. The text must belong to a text field. Select the relevant text and right-click to open the Manage a Cross-reference dialog box. NOTE: The editing box must remain closed while you select the text for your link.
Click Hyper link to display the Manage a Hyper Link dialog box.
In the Manage a Hyper Link dialog box, specify the web address in the To URL box.
Click Create. The Manage a Hyper Link dialog box is closed and you are returned to the entry in edit mode. The hyperlink text is formatted according to the properties specified in the active layout, but it is not applied until you save the entry.
Click Save entry on the lower MultiTerm Online toolbar to save the changes you have made and to exit edit mode. The entry is saved to the termbase and the hyperlink is now available to other termbase users.
