About the Default Termbase

MultiTerm Online allows you to work with one or more termbases at a time. The main working termbase in a group of two (or more) open termbases is known as the default termbase. It can be defined as the termbase whose content is currently displayed on the browse pane on the left-hand side in the Terms view and also on the entry pane in the Terms view. In this view you can browse, search and edit the content of the default termbase.

NOTE

A single open termbase in MultiTerm Online has the same status as the default termbase in a group.

Defining the Default Termbase

When you open a group of termbases, MultiTerm Online automatically defines the first termbase in the group as the default termbase and displays the terms in the Terms view in the browse and entry panes. You can change the default termbase for the current group at any time by selecting another termbase from the browse pane.

The list of termbases is sorted alphabetically. When you first log in to MultiTerm Online, the first termbase listed in the group is the default termbase.

To change the default termbase for the current group:

  1. Go to the Terms view.

  2. Scroll through browse pane to locate the list of termbases in the current group.

  3. Select the termbase you want to define as the default.

  4. The content of the newly-defined default termbase is displayed on the browse and entry panes.

Default Termbase in a Multiple Termbase Search

The languages that you specify for the default termbase are known as the default source and default target languages. In the context of a multiple termbase search, you can use the default source and target languages to identify the relevant search languages in other termbases.
